Be Fresh Local Market, cultivated by SPUD.CA is our retail division of cafes, markets, and commissary services. Depending on the location, you can expect to find anything from speciality coffee drinks, on-tap kombucha, freshly prepared & vibrant on-the-go meals, to a market stocked with organic groceries and cool local vendors. Be Fresh is looking for a VP, Retail (Be Fresh) for our Vancouver, BC head office (1660 E Hastings Street).

 

What you'll do:


The VP, Retail (Be Fresh) is responsible for all Be Fresh operations in Western Canada, including our 9 current retail locations, and commissary services. We are expanding, and opening new stores locations, and looking for an experienced professional to provide the leadership, expertise, and strategy that is going to bring our Be Fresh retail operations to the next level.

 

  • Provide the overall vision, planning, direction, and leadership for Be Fresh retail, to exceed operational and strategic goals, visiting each location on a regular basis. 
  • Meet/exceed annual P&L objectives with a primary focus on top-line sales, productivity, and production management.
  • Take the lead on sourcing and opening new retail locations.
  • Develop store management and team leadership by goal setting, coaching and feedback, and creating succession and growth strategies that are reflected through all levels of employment
  • Drive continuous performance by fostering customer connections through community. marketing, technology initiatives, new product launches, and in-depth merchandising strategies.
  • Train, coach and inspire all locations to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Market merchandise and formulate pricing policies by studying advertising, trends, activities, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
  • Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
  • Maintain the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
  • Maintain operations by initiating, developing, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all duties.
  • Identify opportunities for personal growth, learning, and development to stay up to date, innovative, and competitively strategic. 
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What you'll need

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a territory of multiple stores, including opening new locations, in one of the following areas: retail, food & beverage, grocery, or another similar industry.
  • Previous experience coaching and managing employees at a district level. 
  • Experience in both front of house and back of house/kitchen operation management.
  • Highly organized, ability to prioritize, multi-task, respond and adapt to change within a rapidly growing company, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that engage people in a genuine, authentic way which drives behaviour and results.
  • A university degree in Business Administration and/or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proficient computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite. Experience using an ERP is preferred.
