    SPUD.CA is looking for a full-time, permanent Retail Accountant based out of our new head office located at #105 5566 Trapp Avenue, Burnaby.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Support daily cash reconciliations from our retail stores
    • Maintain prepaids and PPE subledger
    • Maintain, evaluate, and prepare accounting entries for leases
    • Maintain tracking of market sales with corresponding journal entries 
    • Maintain tracking of company donations with corresponding journal entries
    • Review/create monthly accruals to ensure completeness and financial accuracy 
    • Month end close reconciliations and review of expenses 
    • Reconciliation and preparation of monthly adjusting entries for inter-company transactions
    • Facilitate and process period-end close
    • Reconcile general ledger, post journal entries, and prepare financial statements 
    • Complete daily, weekly and periodical reports to report on business performance
    • Maintain internal inventory controls and lead review meetings with the purchasing team
    • Provide guidance to retail locations with regards to accounting/cash handling/inventory questions
    • Liaise with other departments to refine internal processes and standard operating procedures 
    • Other duties as required

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • University or college degree in Business or Accounting
    • CPA designation or program enrollment is an asset 
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a retail environment
    • Desire to join a dynamic, hard-working team and to take an active role in the success of this growing organization
    • Potential to work occasional weekends/modified work week
    • Experience using Accounting software is required
    • ERP experience is an asset
    • Strong Excel skills required 

    Compensation

    • An annual salary, paid bi-weekly, based on experience
