    SPUD.CA is looking for a full-time, permanent Assistant Grocery Buyer based out of South Burnaby, BC office (5566 Trapp Avenue) This shift will be TBD but either Monday- Friday or Sunday- Thursday.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • You will be responsible for assisting the Grocery Buyer in all areas of daily purchasing as well as in new item creation and reporting.
    • Review what items we have, what we need and make sure that waste is kept to a minimum.
    • When there are leftover items you will use all available outlets for maximizing the usability (e.g. sell back to vendor, retail market or community donations)
    • Receive and enter invoices making sure the price is correct and spotting errors.
    • Be the key contact person between Purchasing and Accounting.
    • We hate having to short our customers items they have ordered because we are out of stock so you will compare on hand inventory with next day customer orders, and if something is missing you'll make some magic happen to fix it.
    • Conduct price comparisons on a regular basis.
    • Talk to suppliers, the warehouse team, customer service and maintain positive relationships.
    • Proactively pursue the best possible quality at the best price, while maintaining strong relationships with vendors.
    • Additional duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Comfortable and willing to work in a position that involves a lot of data entry!
    • Sound knowledge of the Office Suite, especially Excel.
    • Analytical mindset, this role is a "heads-down, looking at figures" position.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Extreme attention to every minor detail.
    • Warm and engaging personality.
    • Passion for food, particularly local and organic.
    • Ability to work within and with other teams.

    Compensation

    • An annual salary based on experience, paid bi-weekly
    • 20% discount on all of our products on spud.ca
    • Extended Health Care Benefits (effective the first of the month after 90 days)
